How to Do EFT

 

It is important to be very clear about the issue you want to address with EFT.  The set up statement must be very specific as the subconscious mind cannot process vague statements like "I feel lonely".  Use a statement such as "Even though my friend cancelled our date at the last minute..... I deeply and completely accept myself".  The reminder phrase would then be ...  "friend cancelled date".  You may wish to add reminder statements that include feelings ... this disappointment, this sadness, this frustration, or whatever applies.

 

EFT Procedure (Long Version)

 

  1. Identify the issue. Be a specific as possible.  Generalized statements are not effective.
  2. Grade the level of anxiety or physical discomfort from 1-10 with 10 the highest
  3. Tap the Karate Chop point to balance the energy in the body and create the affirmation

“Even though I have this problem, I deeply and completely love and accept myself”

Repeat three times.

 

  1. Tap points 1 through 8 while you use a reminder phrase “this problem”.  Tap each spot 7-10 times.  Complete the sequence:EFT Tapping Points Woman.jpg
    1. Beginning of Eyebrow
    2. Side of Eye
    3. Below Eye
    4. Under Nose
    5. Crease in Chin
    6. Beginning of Collar Bone                                    
    7. Under the Arm
    8. Front of Ribcage

  1. Do the Nine Gamut sequence with the reminder phrase

9.      Side of thumb

10.   Side of pointer finger

11.   Side of middle finger

12.   Side of baby finger

13.   Tap on Gamut point and continue tapping throughout sequence

Close your eyes

Open your eyes and look hard down to right and then left without moving head

Roll eyes in a circle as if looking at a giant clock, in both directions

Hum a few bars of a song (Happy Birthday or something familiar)

Count from one to five

Hum a few bars of a song

 

  1. You can also tap on the crown of the head.
  2. Take a few deep breaths and sip of water and check in with how you feel.
  3. Grade you level of anxiety or discomfort
  4. Repeat the entire sequence as many times as needed to bring stress level down to 1 or 0.

EFT Procedure (Short Version)

Eliminate the Nine Gamut procedure (#5).
